The many farms of New England which Jamie Burnes remembers from his childhood are quickly turning into the cityscapes of modern America. His sculpture strives to convey the tension and clash between the modern construction of the city and the natural forms of a bucolic countryside.

Burnes' animal forms are intended to convey a natural whimsical weight and feel. They are constructed of corten steel which is used most commonly in architecture, and from parts of fallen trees which the artist finds in the woods. "I see my animals as the steel ghosts of an agrarian past."
